The Cairo summer skincare guide
How to handle 38° sun, constant sweat, and an AC that dries you out — all in the same day.
Cairo summer is a unique challenge — you're moving between strong sun, sweat, and freezing AC several times a day. A winter routine won't work here.
Morning: lighten, don't skip
A light foaming cleanser, vitamin C serum (an antioxidant that boosts your sunscreen), a light gel moisturizer, then sunscreen. No heavy cream in the morning.
Choosing your sunscreen
For summer pick a gel or fluid texture with a mineral (Zinc Oxide) or hybrid filter, SPF 50+, and PA++++. If you sweat a lot, reapply every two hours.
A practical tip: keep a sunscreen mist in your work bag for touch-ups over makeup.
During the day: dealing with sweat
Sweat isn't the enemy, but when it dries on skin it leaves salt and oil. Carry unscented micellar wipes for a light wipe, then a hydrating mist, then reapply sunscreen.
Evening: rebuild your barrier
Double cleanse (oil + foam), niacinamide serum (calms inflammation), then a richer moisturizer with ceramides. This replaces what the AC took from you.
What to avoid in summer
Strong retinol, gritty scrubs, high-concentration AHA. All strip your skin of protection right when it needs it most. Push aggressive protocols to October.
Your skin deserves a calm conversation.
